From lighthouse to lighthouse along the coast

Start in the north, from Stavanger take E39 in direction Bergen, take the tunnel Byfjord tunnel, then turn towards Mosterøy, cross the island to island Fjøløy and Fjøløy lighthouse, a hiking area with paths for the entire family. Return via the Byfjord tunnel, follow signposting to Tungenes lighthouse, a museum and a cultural arena, with exhibits, concerts, gallery and cafe. Open Sundays and in summer. tungenesfyr.no. Drive southwards via E39, turn towards Sola (fv. 509) in direction Kvernevik. Continue until arriving on fv. 510 and keep going southwards until making a turn on the North Sea Road (fv. 507) on to the elongated Bore beach. From the beach, you sight Feistein lighthouse.

At Nærbø, drive a short distance along fv. 44 before making a turn towards Obrestad lighthouse, located between Hå gamle Prestegard and Obrestad harbour. Accommodation possible at the lighthouse. In the harbour, explore the sculpture Konvoi, made by Elisabeth Jarstø. Back on to the fv. 44, continue southwards to Kvassheim lighthouse. Visit for exhibitions on rescue history and the protected landscape area. Open in summer. jarenfri.no.

Head south to Egersund. Exit onto the fv. 502 towards Eigerøy lighthouse. Parking 1 hours’ walk from the lighthouse. The country’s first tower in cast iron. Cafe open Sundays in summer. Accommodation possible. visitegersund.no.

Return on the same road to fv. 44 and continue to Rekefjord, where you can catch a boat ride to Lille Presteskjær lighthouse. Possible to rent for accommodation. sokndal.kommune.no.
